Visual Tree Condition Surveys
A Visual Tree Condition Survey - often called a Health and Safety Tree Survey is ideal for landowners or land managers, managers of commercial property, schools or places of education. As a land owner or manager you have a duty of care and responsibility for the management of trees, ensuring they are in a suitable condition and to avoid foreseeable damage (In accordance with the Occupiers Liability Act 1954/1980). Any Commercial properties have further obligations (Health and Safety at Work Act 1974). Often, Those with these responsibilities are not equipped to make informed decisions regarding their trees, therefore a Visual Tree Condition Survey is the best place to start. There are two options available for a Visual Tree Condition Survey - A full report and a negative report. A full report will provide data all trees, hedges and groups over 150mm in diameter located on site, irrespective of whether there are management recommendations pertaining to those trees. This full report is ideal for those who are committed to the conservation and development of their site where tree stock knowledge is vital. The second option, a negative report, we will inspect every tree with the same level of care, however we will only report the ones which have management recommendations or pose a risk. This is turn reduces the time required to compile the report and therefore is a more budget friendly option , it also produces a more streamlined report to follow. Both of these options fulfil your duty of care, and both will provide suitable management plans with appropriate recommendations. As a licensed user of QTRA (quantified tree risk assessment) we are able to utilise the QTRA System to quantify risk in a widely accepted format to produce a figure for Risk of Harm, which in turn will allow us to make informed decisions on whether it is necessary to recommend remedial arboricultural works.

Planting Schedules
Planting Trees is often an overlooked part of Arboriculture, but is perhaps one of the most vital. Whether it is restocking a woodland, replanting following a contravention of a section 211, a fresh development or just general planting assistance - we can help. Species selection, appropriate size and quantity, location and future management. Our detailed planting schedules will ensure the best tree health and longevity, whilst realising your desired outcomes.

Aerial Tree Inspections
Aerial Tree Inspections are usually necessary following a recommendation from a Visual Tree Condition Survey, if a particular feature within a tree presents concern or if the trees are too big or too dense to feasibly view from the ground. An aerial tree inspection will see us climbing with ropes and harness to allow a better view of the entire canopy, particularly features within the crown which aren’t clearly visible from the ground. Utilising all the latest safety gear and modern tree climbing equipment we can safely and efficiently inspect the crown with no damage to the tree. An aerial inspection can also be utilised to check for nesting wildlife, check bracing or structures within the tree, installation of bird/bat boxes/trail cams, Etc.

BS5837 Trees & Planning
BS 5837: 2012 trees in relation to design, demolition and construction, recommendations Tree survey, Tree Constraints Plan, Arboricultural Impact Assessment, Arboricultural Method Statement and Tree Protection Plan - whatever stage your development is it we can help you. We work alongside the client, contractor, architect and planning consultant keeping open communication to ensure the development process progresses smoothly. Utilising the latest software and modern equipment we can accurately map tree locations within the site, presenting the data in various formats. Our arboricultural knowledge will ensure your project reaches completion with suitable trees retained or conditions met.

Ash Dieback Assessments
Ash Dieback (Hymenoscyphus fraxineus) is well established throughout the UK and unfortunately we will lose the vast majority of our native Ash trees, there is no arboricultural treatment to prevent or cure the disease and as such, monitoring it’s extent is the best practice. If you suspect your Ash trees may be affected by ADB (Ash Die Back) we can conduct a survey to determine the extent of the disease and what stage of decline the trees are at present, evaluate the dangers and risks, and establish a management plan. Removal is only way to eliminate the risks posed, however, these trees can still provide arboricultural, ecological and environmental benefits and therefore the timing and urgency of their removal should be considered, We can advise a timeframe for any remedial works and monitor the process. Trees presenting ADB can rapidly become unsafe for an arborist to climb leading to more expensive methods of work such as cranes and MEWPs, so consideration will be given to access and targets when conducting these surveys.

Woodland Management Plans
Woodland management plans can be required for a number of different reasons: establishing a new woodland; management of a newly acquired woodland; increase amenity, ecology and biodiversity; manage tree stock or to aid in applications for grants and felling licenses. We will work alongside you, establishing your desired outcomes and ensuring we provide a professionally tailored approach to achieve these goals.

Tree Laws & Legislation

Having worked closely with various Local Planning Authorities across a number of years, we can offer guidance in what is likely to be achievable when considering work to or near protected trees.  Felling licenses can often be overlooked and are required by law if you are felling more than 5 cubic metres of timber in a calendar quarter - unless you meet one of the exemptions. Overhanging trees and boundary disputes, shade casting and nuisance trees - We understand Trees and the associated Laws.
